How to rock that preggo style and look good while doing it… something every pregnant woman dreams of, right?! Because if we’re going to be real (as mentioned in my previous post), pregnancy can bring out just about every emotion depending on many factors; how far along we are in our pregnancy, whether or not we got sleep (currently NEED MORE OF IT!), weight gain, sappy commercials (insert all the tears)… come on, if you’ve been there, you know exactly what I’m talking about! And if there’s one thing that can help a little on thoseĀ “rougher” days, it’s feeling somewhat like yourself or somewhat put together.
I’ve teamed up withĀ thredUP to talk about my personal pregnancy style and the key areas I focus on styling. Below you will find two looks that mirror my advice. Let’s talk about both outfits…
Outfit #1:
Simple (in this case maternity)Ā t-shirt, (maternity) jeggings, converse, purse with pom-pom accessory, colored lips, and sunnies.
Outfit #2:
Simple sweater, leggings, booties, hat
I like to keep things pretty simple as far as my clothing items go. I typically stick with solids or stripes and then go all out onĀ accessories. I’ve always loved accessorizing; I just think it steps up your fashion game and makes you stand out in a crowd. Nothing really changes when your pregnant, except for the fact that you can feel somewhat sluggish at times, so including on-trend accessories (again, colored lips, sunnies, cute purse, purse accessories) can do just the trick! Also, find a good pair of jeggings/leggings and a good pair of jeans. You know, the ones that are comfortable and make you look/feel good. You’ll be wearing them almost every.single.day (especially if you are pregnant through Winter) so the investment is worth it- promise! I found these particular jeggings (Outfit #1) through thredUP – and guess what?! They are by Citizen of Humanity! I snagged them up as soon as I laid eyes on them because I knew they’d be gone within a matter of days (Citizen of Humanity is a higher end brand). They fit amazing, are extremely comfortable, and are very flattering. And let’s talk about the price. The original retail value was $198. I paid $62! Talk about a steal!
Another piece of advice is to find items that aren’t necessarily maternity to work into your preggo wardrobe. I found this oversized sweater (also went up a size just to be safe) by Simply Vera Wang from Thred Up. It was originally $48.00 and I paid a whopping $12.50! Score!Ā I’m always on the look out for (non-maternity) longer tops/sweaters/cardigans that will fit into my outfit.
When it comes to shoes, I fall right smack dab in the middle of finding a comfortable pair as opposed to an on-trend/stand out shoe. I’d say the first half of your pregnancy, go for the stand-out shoe, maybe those booties with fringe (Outfit #2) or some cute heels. Come second half of your pregnancy? It’s a different story for me. If I’m not at church, at an event where I need to look put-together š , or doing a photo-shoot for my blog… I’m typically wearing some type of slipperĀ (yes I wear these out in public) or shoe. Again, this is me! If you feel comfortable rocking heels at 30+ weeks preggo- go for it! In fact, I commend you š I wish I could! I’m such a complainer that I’d regret wearing them about 10 minutes after leaving the house. Every one of us feelsĀ our bestĀ at different times throughout our pregnancy which can reflect your personal style, so go with what fits true to youĀ at the time being! Ultimately you want to feel all around comfortable in what you’re wearing.
Which leads me to my last piece of advice. Don’t break the bank! Honestly. Invest into a few key pieces that you will wear consistently throughout your pregnancy and then stick to some basics/neutrals. I found so many good finds from thredUP (AND just happened to score those jeggings so keep an eye out for awesome finds like that!). If you haven’t heard of this company, they are an online company that sells like-new clothes from the brands you love! Think Gap, Old Navy, ASOS, Nordstrom, etc. They even sell higher-end brands like Free People, Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, J Brand, etc. And here’s the best part- they also sell maternity! Inventory is constantly being added so be sure toĀ check backĀ daily for good finds!
To all my fellow preggo mama’s (or mama’s to be),Ā keep it up ladies! Hope this post helped inspire you a little!
