The double line: I’m…. PREGGO!!!

AHHHHH! This came as SUCH a shock to both my husband and I. I mean… you know what I mean 😉 I’ve mentioned that to a few people and they’re like… really?! Okay, we’re obviously not naive or oblivious to how it happens- But- I have an app that I use to track everything and the dates just do not add up! I will say, for various reasons, I don’t take birth control… so I always knew in the back of my mind “it” could always be a possibility- however, we were abiding by this “trusty” little app I use and well, it didn’t work out for us too well!

A few weeks ago, I started noticing signs that just weren’t normal for me (boobs hurting, minor cramping) and I just felt different. My husband jokes that I always think I’m pregnant so when I mentioned to him I thought this could be the real deal, he laughed it off. Even so much so that when I asked him to grab a few pregnancy tests on the way home from work, he went to the dollar store because he didn’t want to “waste” money on pregnancy tests. HA! jokes on him 😉 Sure enough… both tests were positive! He didn’t believe it (and neither did I- I mean, how can you completely trust a dollar store test with something THIS big?)- so I rushed off to the store and picked up a more trust-worthy brand preggo test and sure enough- POSITIVE! like right away.

Let’s rewind… from the beginning of our marriage, my husband and I had always said we wanted three kids. He comes from a family with three and loves/loved it, and I come from a family with two kids and always wanted another sibling, so three it was! Fast forward… two kids in and our feelings started to slightly change 😉 I’ve talked about it previously but both of our kids are pretty type A, strong-willed, and well… a bit more challenging to raise at this point (I’m excited for the future as they’ll be great leaders in life… just keeping it real for mom & dad in the beginning stages). We don’t know what it’s like to have an easy-going, compliant child and frankly my husband doesn’t think we produce them. So two it (maybe) was. In the back of my mind, I had always thought we were going to have one more. Maybe a little more down the road as far as timing goes, but I just had this gut level feeling that we weren’t done… I felt like our family just wasn’t complete. And well, here we are now! I’m about seven weeks along and feeling pretty good! With both pregnancies, morning sickness didn’t hit me until about 7-8 weeks so I am enjoying this time and crossing my fingers that just maybe this pregnancy will be different. I was WAY sicker with my son… I’m not sure whether to attribute that to the fact that he is a boy or the fact that he was my second child (supposedly your symptoms are heightened with every pregnancy). I’m PRAYING this one is a little easier on me… I’m not sure I can throw in sickness to the mix with everything else that’s going on! Just being real here.

We were able to capture some fun pictures to share the news with everyone. Ashley Maxwell kills it every time!

On a serious note… accident/mistake (I hate using those words!) or not, we are SO unbelievably excited to meet this little babe in April, 2016! More updates to come…

Oh, and because I know the question/joke will arise… to rename or not to rename the blog- that is the question 😉

XOXO

If you don’t mind, why don’t you use birth control. I don’t really like that I do but I figure God is so much bigger than those little pills that should the time be right he’d bless us even if we didn’t know the time was right 😉 I don’t think I could ever get my husband on board with not taking any. I do like knowing when my “visitor” is coming into town though.

Well, for one- I’m already a pretty hormonal/sensitive person so I don’t like the fact that a lot of birth control pills can mess with that. I just don’t need any extra created drama in my life 😉 I also don’t like what I’ve heard about the long term effects of using them. To each their own, so I wouldn’t want to publicly put this out there to make anyone feel bad. I just don’t feel like they’re best for me so my husband will probably be getting fixed here soon 🙂 haha.

How exciting! I just had my third son in May and like you, I was pretty sure we were done at 2, but wouldn’t mind the possibility of 3. Now I can’t picture our family without him. So happy for you!

Awww. I love it! I know that’s exactly how it will be for us, too! My husband was like, you could say that about every “future” kid- which is true… but I just know that everything happens for a reason so we’re thrilled!

lol! Girl, I’m with ya! You know what though… I don’t think anyone is ever “ready”- I realized that when I had just one.. and then somehow things just get easier… like now- to have just one kid is cake!

I just happened to stumble upon your blog via Hannah Carpenter’s IG. So, I apologize if I am blowing up your comments. I know you’re are due soon so congratulations! But, so funny, every month after I take my blank pills if my period doesn’t come on instantly I freak out and think I am pregnant. My husband even called me out on it last night. I am only six months into my marriage so I would like to wait at least a few years for my first but, its always in the back of my mind. Even on birth control – not like that means anything lol.
