By All of my babies have been fishes, naturally. & thankfully! We spend a TON of time in the water during our Summers, whether it’s the pool, the lake, or our nearby splash pad. Our kids are always begging us for more water time! But I know not every baby is so fond of the water from the get go. For that reason, we wanted to share some ways we have helped our babies feel comfortable and safe in the water!
One of the ways we initially introduced our babies to the water was walking/playing around the pool and making it feel like a comfortable/safe zone. From there, we picked them up and slowly walked into the water while making small waves, showing them it’s a fun activity to be in the water. After a few minutes, they caught on and started slapping the water with their hands. Jude, particularly, thought it was pretty funny 🙂 He actually loves getting water on his face so he got a kick out of it every time he’d get himself wet!
One thing we are also pretty specific about is making sure they have the proper attire while being in the water. Who’s had a baby poop in the tub?! …. ME! and most likely every other mom 🙂 We have always made sure our babies were wearing proper attire to avoid those types of accidents.
