My Favorite “Mommy” Things

Let me start out by saying I know I am totally & completely failing at the actual blogging side of things since Jude’s been born. My posts are few and far between. One of these days, I’ll get back into more of a routine with my home and work life, but for now, everything is a little all over the place and I’m learning that’s okay. My control side freaks out every once in a while but I know it’s just a season. Being that Jude is our last (My husband might or might not have already scheduled “the surgery”- TMI?!), I’m soaking up every last ounce of the newborn life.

I thought it would be fun to talk about a few of my favorite “Mommy Things” (cutest pouch, huh! Check them out at @livestyledshop on Instagram- they are completely customizable, too!) as well as a few things I did prior to having Jude or things I invested into for the newborn stage. A few “things” that helped me feel a little more put together, pretty, and somewhat normal those first few weeks. If you’ve had a baby, you know exactly how that first month can play out and trying to schedule anything or be somewhere on time is just about impossible. Heck, half of the time I’m still not sure what day it is. Your nights become day and your day’s become nights. It’s all a little blurry. So making time for yourself pre baby is just what I did.

A few of my favorite mommy things…

  1. Rodan & Fields – Their Eye cream & Sunless tanner are two of my favorite products they carry. Their eye cream will take away those newborn-black-bags you’re now sporting. Fortunately, I’ve been using it for a while so I was able to prevent those pretty black circles. Tip: A little goes a long way and I keep mine chilled in the fridge. Their sunless tanner is my go-to because it doesn’t give off that orange-y color and doesn’t leave streaks!! – two things I hate! It’s natural looking while giving you some color and the perfect glow! Both the eye cream and sunless tanner are two of Rodan & Fields most popular items as they sell out often and have high reviews. If you haven’t heard of Rodan & Fields skincare line, I sell it (and SWARE by it!) and definitely encourage you to give it a shot. Once you go R&F, you don’t go back 🙂 Click the drop down on the top of my home page that reads “Rodan & Fields Skincare” and shoot me an email if you have any questions!
  2. Nails- Essie is one of my favorite brands and if you’re wondering, this particular color is “muchi muchi” – the perfect pale pink for Spring/Summer. I definitely recommend paying the money (if this is something you don’t typically do) to get your nails done a few days before you’re due. Pretty nails just do something for you during those first few weeks. They make you feel somewhat put together and give you something pretty to stare at when you smell from not showering or reek from spit up. #reallife. Not to mention, you want some pretty toes while you’re in labor, right? There’s gotta be something attractive to look at 🙂 And for your fingers, definitely go for the gel! It will last two-three weeks (you know you’re not getting your nails done on week one or two).
  3. Lips- MAC is always my go-to for lips. Their lipliners, their lipstick, I just love it all. And if you know me at all, I’m kind of obsessed with lipstick. Colored lipstick to be more specific. I just see it is a simple way to make a statement or add to your outfit (that might be a little blah). Baby Lips by Maybelline is also one of my favorite chap sticks. It hydrates and gives off a little color. Most days (when I’m not shooting or going somewhere important where I need to look put together), I wear tinted moisturizer, a few swipes of mascara, and baby lips on my lips. It’s the perfect trio that gives off a natural look in literally two minutes or less.
  4. Dry Shampoo- Need I say more lol – this is LIFE! and I never did I think I’d say those annoying three words- haha. But really, I use dry shampoo daily! I go through a lot of bottles so while I’m probably not saving a ton of money, I’m maximizing the time I’m saving while still having fresh hair- WIN! I typically go 4-6 days without washing my hair and it wouldn’t be possible without dry shampoo. My two favorite brands are Batiste and Eva NYC.

What are a few of your must-have “mommy things”??

I totally understand where your coming from! As a follower and a mama we all totally understand the blog post situation! I just started this blog life and with lots of littles and love it can be hard! 😉 I love your picks!! The baby lips are something I am going to try! My favorite mommy thing when having a newborn was my nuroo wrap (not a lot of people no about these) it’s like a shirt, but a wrap!! ? It keep the baby so close and skin to skin when you’re at home. It was my faaaaaaavorite thing!! I am so happy I spent the money and bought one because it was way worth it. Since he is your last one I would totally get one mama! You won’t be sorry! It makes snuggle time the absolute best!!!! Love, Mama of 2 Tanisha Andersen

I’ve only recently started using dry shampoo and I love it! I never thought I’d use it but then of course time became a little more scarce as I became a mom…

Hi! I officially have hair envy – love yours! What products do you recommend for volume? I struggle to get that lasting volume up top!

    Thank you!

Hi there! How am I just seeing this?? For volume I would suggest Nick Chavez leave-in conditioner/thickening cream as well as Big Sexy Hair Spray. Its my go to!

I love your sunglasses! Wife and mother. In both of these roles, I have been stretched through daily challenges and frustrations as well as through life’s victories and joys.

Love your blog! I can totally relate as I’m a momma myself. Dry shampoo all the way, I use the one from Big Sexy Hair. Maybelline BB cream and EOS lip balm are a couple of my faves & always a good excuse to go to Target!
