Raising a strong willed child

Today’s post surrounds my girl and why I am beyond grateful for her. Let’s rewind… for those of you who are new around here, I’ve shared posts here and there on parenting and the ups/downs/things I’ve learned. A few surrounding this girl and what she’s taught me throughout her eight short but mighty years.

Ella is one tough cookie. She is no doubt my child 😉 Type A, strong willed, a go-getter, thinker, planner, analyzer, sensitive, caring, helper, and so much more. Her toddler years made me question my “skills” in parenting. My husband and I tried everything, read everything, did everything… it was just a phase we had to get through if I’m being frank here. But man has she grown up to become one of my best friends.

Not only has she taught me more about myself than anyone else (because hello- she’s a little me), she has taught me patience, humility, how to back down (us stubborn folks ;), and how to truly love. She is extremely compassionate and always wants to help if she sees someone in need. I love that about her. She feels for the broken and the hurting and this mama heart couldn’t be more proud.

So if you’re raising a strong willed too- stay at it, be consistent, and do what is sometimes hard (but right) to do. Let me tell you- it’s worth it!!! Strong willed kiddos can be harder to raise, but they make for great adults and leaders.

Her outfit is from Bloomingdales and they have SO many cute things for girls! Her jacket is on sale (this one is really cute in pink too) and so are her black jeans. I’m also linking a few other cute things I saw while browsing. Bloomingdales always carries more edgy, fashion forward pieces so if you’re looking for something more unique for your kids, maybe even for family pictures, this is a great place to pick up something a little different that will stand out.

How cute is this romper that is on major sale?!

Check out this Back To School Lookbook for more outfit inspo.

My snakeskin moto jacket is from there as well. Will go with so much this Fall and is a great transitional piece to add to your wardrobe. It fits true to size, I’m wearing a size Small.

Huge thank you to Bloomingdales for sponsoring this post. As always all opinions are my own.

XOXO
