Remedies for Damaged Hair

(This picture was taken prior to my current hair dilemmas at NYFW)

Recently I hopped on my IG stories and shared with y’all the current state of my hair. It’s damaged, fried, and I have tons of split ends. I’m not a hairdresser so I may be a little off, but long story short, I think my hairdresser used color over bleach and my hair wasn’t strong enough to handle it. It resulted in major breakage and left the ends in pretty bad shape. I asked about what has worked for you and compiled a long list of remedies based on your responses. I decided to buy Collagen Peptides and have used it pretty consistently for a few weeks now. I haven’t noticed a major difference so far but I will be sure to share with you if I do! I had soooooo many people tell me this was/is a miracle worker for them. Plus it benefits not only your hair but your skin, bones, and nails too! I just mix a scoop of it in my coffee every morning and you wouldn’t even know- it’s tasteless!

I also bought Pureology Shampoo/Conditioner (a little bit pricey, but I knew I needed to invest into some quality stuff) and bought this shampoo and this conditioner. I was advised focusing on the mixture of both platinum blonde and hydration would benefit my current situation.

Again, I know different things work for different people as we all have different hair types, hair issues, and differing opinions. But this is what I’ve chosen to buy/use and I’m crossing my fingers it helps bring my hair back to life!

The following are the top recommendations I received… Again, I have NOT tried all of these products. These are all recommendations from my readers…

Kerataste Products

AG Hair

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (What I talked about above)

Unite Oil – Buying this as I just ran out of Moroccan Oil and have heard great things about this one

Kevin Murphy products

Moroccan Oil

Nioxin products

Hopefully you find something here that works for you! Be sure to keep me posted if you do!

Hi! First off I loveeee your blog!
I’m the worst at getting haircuts when I need them I will do just about anything to put it off. I don’t know why I just don’t enjoy getting them lol. Anyways a while back my split ends were getting way out of hand and my hair was unbearable so I tried this I found on Pinterest(it sounds weird but it REALLY works:
    1 egg yolk
    2 tbsp of coconut oil
    1 tbsp of honey
Mix the ingredients together then put on your hair for 30minutes and cover with a towel. Then just wash your hair.
I hope that works for you if you try it! I saw it as a win win because I always have those things in my kitchen and it’s all natural.

As a former hairstylist and a former platinum blonde, I think your Pureology choices are great! I’d definitely have your stylist do an Olaplex treatment as well as doing the one for at home for sure!! Bleached hair has lost a lot of strength so a strengthening treatment each week would be ideal. I really like K-Pak treatments, both their reconstructor and hydrator. Make sure your stylist is NOT overlapping bleach on already bleached hair, that’s where I get into trouble. Hope that helps, I’ve kept my long hair pretty healthy thru the years. I want to try the collagen peptides now!

I have had the same issues you talked about and I am happy to say I finally found products that have reversed the damage! I love them so much that I started working for the company…can I send you some samples to try to see if they do the same for you?
